The Lehrman Institute established the “Lehrman Institute Award for Excellence in Long-Term Public Service” or “Lehrman Award” to recognize individuals for their past public service and charitable, scientific, educational, or literary excellence. The award is for recognition of achievements of individuals who have contributed to the betterment of their community, country, or world. More specifically, the award recognizes those who exemplify the American tradition, values, and principles, as well as the nation’s global leadership, and rewards research, analysis, and publications concerning moral doctrine, public philosophy, monetary and fiscal policy, international trade and markets, the growth and prosperity of national economies, as well as foreign, domestic, and energy policy.
